We invite you to visit Mount Athos with us to experience its ancient history and discover its rich cultural heritage. We will have the unique opportunity to explore monasteries steeped in rich ecclesiastical tradition. During our visit we will see ancient frescoes, revered icons and mosaics, we may hear the chanting of monastic church services and discover the beauty that emerges not only through ecclesiastical art but also through sensing firsthand something of the spiritual splendor of the monks of Mount Athos.
Program:
Ouranoupoli – Dafni – Karyes – Koutloumousiou Monastery – Monastery of Iviron -Skete of Prophet Elijah – Pantocrator Monastery – Vatopedi Monastery – Xenophontos Monastery – Ouranoupoli
We depart from Ouranoupoli and reach Dafni. From there we will be driven to the famous capital of the Athonite Monastic State, Karyes, where the Protaton Church is located, the administrative center of the monastic community of Mount Athos, home to the Holy Administration and the Holy Community.
We will visit the Church of the Protaton, followed by the Koutloumousiou Monastery and the Monastery of Iviron, where we will be able to venerate one of the oldest and most famous Eastern Orthodox icons, “Panagia Portaitissa”.
Our tour then takes us to visit the Skete of Prophet Elijah and the Holy Monastery of Pantocrator. With the appearance of a medieval castle, the Pantocrator monastery stands on a steep cliff at a height of 50 meters above the sea and due to its location and appearance it is considered one of the most picturesque buildings of Mount Athos. From here we proceed to visit Vatopedi Monastery and then Xenophontos Monastery.
At the end of our journey, we depart from Xenophontos Monastery and head back to Ouranoupoli.
