This tour truly takes us on a journey through time to understand the culture and history of the state that determined the direction of the spiritual and historical development of the entire Eastern Christian world. The beautiful churches we will visit  are full of light, spacious and majestic while at the same time they have a warm feel and open their inner space as if they were embracing everybody.  The experience and knowledge of our guide will also help you to feel the atmosphere of a bygone era.

Our tour will start in the Ano Poli (Upper Town), where the Monastery of Vlatades and the Church of Hosios David are located, both important and interesting monuments with elements from the Byzantine period. Moving on, there is a visit to the Church of the Holy Apostles, as well as to the Church of Saint Nicholas Orphanos, which has been designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The beautiful view of the city from Ano Poli makes it the perfect setting to enjoy lunch in a traditional tavern.

After lunch, our tour will continue to visit the most significant churches in the city center. The Church of Saint Sophia is one of the most important in Thessaloniki, with a very long history. It has also been listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Following this is a visit to the Church of Panagia Acheiropoietos dating back to the 5th century, before our final stop at the Church of Saint Demetrios. A landmark of Thessaloniki, it is dedicated to the patron saint and protector of the city, as on its grounds the Saint was imprisoned, became a martyr and was buried. Also a World Heritage site, it is the ideal ending to our tour.
